A lush synthesis of lighting, music, and motion, Jody Sperling's "Roman Sketches" is 5-part suite set to music of Charles Griffes that pays homage to early modern-dancer Loie Fuller. In this trio, the dancers weave through six mirror doors, appearing, disappearing, multiplying into fragments, and changing colors as they swirl. Choreography: Jody Sperling; Dancers: Kelly Hayes, Lisa Natoli & Sperling; Lighting: David Ferri; Piano: Jeffrey Middleton; Costumes: Michelle Ferranti. Videotaped at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, May 11, 2007. This work was made, in part, during a residency commissioned by Vermont Performance Lab, LLC and Marlboro College. WWW.TIMELAPSEDANCE.COM
The music is nice. Confusing images! Just weird! But interesting.
