Mmm, I'm having trouble watching youtube videos on Ubuntu, they usually play without sound or lag so much you can't play them at all. It might be a problem with my graphics card, though, since I'm only using the Wubi version.
Please check out my video "Basic sound configuration" which will give you some guidance. You'll probably have to play around with your settings to make your mic work. I hope you'll find an answer from my video, please let me know if you do.
