I recently retrofitted E60 M5 SMG knob to my E92 335i. I also have full custom LED interiors and LED license plate lights. Clear rear and side signals and 8000K HID fog lights. No error code at all.

  • what kind of LED bulb are you using on your license plate ? those are brighter than min. I got 5 LED 5050 SMD 3 chipped from eBay. But they started to blink and few of the LEDs out.

  • See reply below.

  • are those blue or white for the license plate lights?

  • Those are LED white lights. I modify the housing and each housing has 12 LEDs.

  • if he was a man...

he would have gotten a 6 speed

  • I drove a 6 speed for 4 years. I am tire of stuck in Cali traffic. Also I don't think someone drive a manual 335i can beat me with this steptronic. LOL

  • not a big fan of the m5 shift knob. it looks out of place

  • @scottysacrifice true but this isn't an m3, it's a 335i with a zf steptronic automatic, not the DCT. Basically a conventional automatic (that allows some driver gear selection), not the new dual clutch transmissions that m cars, the 335is, and european 335's have.

it just has an m/// shift knob.

  • @fartpimpson how did you get the SMG to work??

  • how did you get the smg know to work thats pretty cool

  • @m4a1jason

The new M3's have dual clutch trannys. that is not an automatic. it is an automated manual.

it shifts instantly and has mechanical clutches.

prince is right. manuals are generally faster than autos. but dual clutch systems are always faster because there is no disengage-select new gear-reengage time.

dual clutches only have a disengage clutch one then reengage clutch two time, and since they are simultaneous, the shifts are practically instant and theres no loss of power.

  • bro how did you do the shift knob cause i have a e39 540i i want to do this if you could give me some directions i'd love it lol.

  • @Princeshinsui

It is. They even proved it on the new M3s. It lowered the 1/4 time by a few milliseconds.

  • i highly doubt auto with striptronic is faster than manual

  • Nice CF hood.
