  • I was there as a 12 year old, my Father took me out of school to see it, thanks for posting

  • R.I.P. 'The Mare'.

  • How many owners are greedy? Too many. Persian Punch, Rooster Booster, Floyd and other good horses suffered similar fates.

  • Also a pity that her owner charmian hill was greedy. The mare had previously won the french champion and even her trainer paddy mullins did not want to go back..She had nothing left to prove on the track and should have become a broodmare.

  • Two fantastic horses, a pity we lost them both in the Summer of 1986. We can only guess how many more Gold Cups and Champion Chases these two great horses could of won....

  • I can remember watching Channel 4 Racing when they showed a replay of the full race - I was transfixed for 3 minutes at how a 2-horse race was such a brilliant spectacle - both legends giving 110% at every fence. What a race and what a memory - both horses were great and well done to the owners for agreeing to let the racing public enjoy the head to head which is still talked about - one of the races of 20th Century !

  • A great mare but Buck House was also a great horse terrible that both of them died of few months after this race.

  • R.I.P. Dawn Run sickening broken neck she suffered crackin horse!!!

  • brilliant to see old footage of 2 greats taking each other on,want 2 see more of this on youtube, were did the footage come from anyone know?

  • great to see this piece of history of the greatest national hunt mare ever and words of wisdom from the maestro paddy mullins
