I passed my check ride on 9/25/2011 and this was my first flight with my whole family since getting my ticket. This was on 11/20/2011 and we had planned on flying up to Payson for lunch but the WX wasn't looking too good so I just decided on a quick flight over to Chandler.
So this is the whole flight from takeoff to landing and transitioning the Phoenix Class Bravo Airspace.
The whole flight is about 35 miles and from wheels up to wheels down you are on with ATC either from where we took off from DVT or PHX approach or CHD so there is a lot of communication going on.
This is what the route looks like. http://skyvector.com/?ll=33.44777293363961,-111.9226139729627&chart=121&a...

  • What audio cable did you use to capture ATC and the comms?

  • @ThePilotReport Hey Len. I just use a digital voice recorder and attach a tiny mic that I put in the ear cup of my headset

  • That was a great landing mate. I didn't even see the camera jerk.

  • @Shez74 Thanks, I was doing my best to impress the family lol

  • Great to be able to take the family up to enjoy what you've been talking about since you started the quest for your certificate. I bet they loved it!

  • @spionen007 Thanks, yeah all that training is paying off :-)

  • @TinkerManRC Thanks Tim :-)

  • Great job and congrats thumbs up..Tim

  • @cholubaz Haha no it was the right thing to do. I also sort of "talk" myself through what im doing, like checklist items outloud during takeoffs and landings. I have done it ever since I started training and now its just a habit. Occationally i reach over to the comm panel before senarios when I know radio traffic and concentration are important and switch the intercom to CREW instead of PAX that way you can only hear yourself and whoever is sitting next to you rather than everyone.
