@gadenspladget Back in 2003 I came up from Costa mesa about 15 times looking for a house to buy out there but the prices were too high and climbing. Now I could buy something but I'm in Denver and I have to sell my condo first. The logistics of moving is intimidating. So many costs involved and so many financial risks. One must be very careful when buying a house. Earthquake damage, flood areas, mold, termites, lousy neighbors, noise sources, etc are all things one must check for carefully 1st.

Did you use normal cement to make the rock walls? Those are awesome!

@1971SuperLead
You forgot the scorpions and black widow spiders! It's the little ones that get you, when you don't see them coming. I love it out there, especially when it's still 100 degrees at 7:30 at night. That's what I call living!

@gadenspladget You know, brown recluse spiders have been found in Yucca Valley and 29 Palms. In Yucca Valley a nest was found under an old wooden dog house. The story is on the internet.
I love Yucca Valley but I want a newer house...maybe one on stilts, if I'm going to live there. Roughing it in a cabin is too macho for me. I like to sleep with my eyes closed.
Come to think of it......you have internet in your cabin??? I thought you'd have a telegraph.

@1971SuperLead
I only use the telegraph on special occasions! Stop. But you get used to the critters, as long as you realize that they were here first, and it's really their property. They won't actually climb in your bed and kill you, much. They would rather run along the floor and and wait for you to step on them.You just gotta watch where you step. But it's really peaceful and quiet. If you know Yucca Valley you know what I mean. Come by for a visit any time, and bring your guitar!

The rock walls were made by a previous owner, so I can't tell you exactly how they were made. This part of the desert is LOADED with rocks, so I do know that they just used the rocks they found lying around the property. I have a feeling that there was normal cement involved, after they found out that the rocks would not stay piled up by themselves. I also have a feeling that there were many many many many many cases of beer involved as well, since the walls are not even close to being straight.
