@jukido987 I am a Black Belt in Danzan and sadly you are 100% correct. I no longer practice the art. It has become something very strange. I remember being told by High Ranking DZR Professors (and ignorantly believing) that doing Judo would "ruin" your technique. LOL. Only thing it would ruin is your ego, because you realize even after years of "Kata throwing", you can't pull that stuff off on someone who had been doing Randori as part of their training.

@JetLag317 well dude, that is because it was taken in part from japanese jujitsu, some Hawaiian lua added to it, etc, and that is danzan. If you do a little bit of reasearch you would clearly see that no, there would not be.

Just don't break any laws.

What was that? home gymnastics? Skills gained during this training will not help in real aggressive attack situation. Students trained like shown make self- deception and their instructors are responsible for that... I never saw real combat trainings where real warriors are trained like girls: no single bruise... That's not right... students should feel real threat to be trained properly and make adequate response to attacker! otherwise its a ballet not a combat fight!

Hard to take seriously with all the fast motion stuff. Looks like the Keystone Cops or the Benny Hill Show.

@JetLag317 you will never find a Danzan Ryu Dojo in Japan cause it was burn in Hawaii, Henry Okazaki and Jigoro Kano were friends and they both went to the same dojo when Kano was practicing ju jutsu, you should investigate a little more before type such of stupid things!!!

And..your a liar. No Judoka worth a damn would waste his time with compliant drills and theory of what "might work". Like every other douche who practices a martial art that doesnt consistently test it's techniques you make the flawed assumption that the switch from "I let go cause you tapped" to "I am going to snap your arm cause you attacked me" is non trivial. Trust me...it isn't. On the other hand the switch from "I can make this work cause you let me" to "I have to make this work"...

You never going to find a Danzan Ryu dojo in Japan, it is a style created out of Japan. Danzan mean Hawaii it is the Jiu Jitsu from Hawaii based in Yoshin Ryu, Judo and a little of others martial arts.
It is like the Ju Jitsu of the International Ju Jitsu Federation or the Ju Jitsu of the World Ju Jitsu Federation which are styles created out of Japan based in Judo and Japanese Ju Jutsu techniques.

True, most DZR schools are attended by "normal" folks. If making MA more accesible to different folks is a crime then DZR is guilty. Not everyone is cut out to get in the octagon. DZR is a legitimate style with verifiable history and techniques. Just like other styles, if all you do is kata or break boards, you will not be effective. The is no secret "bad ass" DZR techniques, just as there are no secret techniques in any MA style. The techniques done correctly are as effective as other styles
Can't you just train and not bring religion (ie. "Christian" Ju Jutsu, Karate, etc.) into it?

After the founder of this Beautiful system died, the integrity of this art started to slowly decline, especially after the death of Bud Estes. now most DZR guys are a bunch of kooks who forgot the fighting roots of the art. there may still be a few left but you could count them on one hand in the whole world! Okazaki was, among other things, a fighter! he based his system off of real fighting, nowadays it's against the "rules" in all danzan ryu schools to spar. okazaki is turning over in grave!
