@simonetticarlo in other words, for english speakers, it is not uncommon in Mali to have names associated with a specific tribe/people/culture in the region be shared with other cultures, our society is highly complex, has been always in flux and will always be dynamic, there are coulibaly fulani or diallo soninke or sangare bamanan, it is more accurate to categorize these names as clans then a rigid tribal distinction which is more myth than anything. Mali is blessed to be so mixed.

Not if it is a correct explanation, one might hear a conversation with a historian Dogon, he argued that the origin of "Kulu-bah-ly" comes from the region of Sanga, that name was formed when a family named Bah is established on the mountain (Kulu), people refer to them as koulubaly. I'm not sure but I seem to remember Baba Inna comes from Mopti.
