From 1817 to 1821 The French-born Pirate, Jean Laffitte and his crew of privateers and mercinaries raided shipping from what would later be known as, Galveston, Texas. Tales of his buried treasure in the Houston - Galveston area have intrigued treasure hunters and historians for years. No one knows for sure what happened to LaFitte or if his vast pirate booty was ever recoverd.

  • Jean Laffitte helped defeat the Spanish in New Orleans in 1812. It seems the pratice of hiring mercinaries is nothing new for the U.S.A.
