Well... it is fact. The second law of thermodynamics is fact, and the solar system is an isolated system which will place fixed limits on human expansion. When the sun dies out, we'll be getting a negligable amount of energy from space and a low-level afterglow from the earth.

The limits are there; they're just pretty damn enormous.
