360 Degrees - Reclaiming Independent Music

www.cifdpresents.co.uk

This Mays Bank Holiday Friday will be filled with the best of the British independent music scene today.

CIFD Presents brings you 360 Degrees at The Roundhouse Theatre in Camden on Friday 28th May 2010, open till 1am for you to dance the night away.

This summers evening will begin with an array of acoustic talent from the outdoor terrace spreading through to the Torquil bar followed by an amazing line up of home grown talent including acts such as the swing-hop duo The Correspondents, the big band meets hip-hop Lazy Habits, the incredible singer/songwriter and cellist Izzi Dunn and headlining the night is Mr BISH BASH BOSH himself Bashy.

Spinning us into the early morning are the classic garage duo DJ Luck and Mc Neat and with a little bit of luck we can make it through the night.

Heres a little taster of the talent to be expected on the night.

The Correspondents- started out in November 2007, In Leeds Mr Chuckles had been tinkering with the sounds of Hip Hop, Jazz and Dance music for several years, meanwhile further North in Edinburgh Mr Bruce exerted his vocal dexterity over Drum 'n' Bass, Breaks & Funk. Since then tracks have been recorded, stages have been stomped and knees have hit nipples. They have shared stages with the likes (or unlikes) of Florence & The Machine, Lilly Allen, Mika, Little Boots, VV Brown, Bat For Lashes and Bassment Jaxx.

Lazy Habits- Hailing from Hackney and vehement defenders of the 7″ vinyl format, theyre a cross genre, combining big band and hip-hop sampling sounds to give you the mariachi horn. In the summer of 2009 they could be seen at pretty much every festival going, including Secret Garden Party, and hosting the Jazz World stage at Glastonbury. In fact, we cant believe you wont have already heard of them. They played Koko with Mos Def, and we thought wed better catch them before they rocket off into superstardom.

Izzi Dunn- There is no restrictions to IzzIs sound. Her voice is fearless: vulnerable, empowering and traditionally soulful. However, her skills as a cellist and arranger, continually honed since childhood, are an indispensable aspect of proceedings. There are no sampled strings here people. Her music reflects the nature of modern everyday-life, our trials and tribulations, hopes and loves. Izzi has also graced the cream of the UK music scene with her talents, Roots Manuva and The Goriilaz are just a few of those who have benefited.

Bashy- It wasnt just the music that got the nation talking, as in Bashy we have discovered a 360 degree artist and a personality which exudes star quality. Bashy has received rapturous applause for his Electric proms performance, gracing No.10 Downing street for meetings with the Prime Minister as an Ambassador for the No to knives campaign, writing the soundtrack to the award winning Noel Clarke film Adulthood, which grossed millions at the box office, and received a 2008 MOBO nomination. His a debut album Catch Me If You Can perfectly encapsulates how hip hop has become the world's local music Every element of his delivery from the lyrical dexterity to the video production is sharp, with none of the raw presentation synonymous with the Grime/hip hop scene.

DJ Luck and MC Neat- If there was an award for services to UK Garage, the hyper productive London pair would win one of those too. As the scene they loved exploded, Luck and Neat have turned into a two man United Nations Of Garage, bridging scenes and showing that the raw and the smooth can co-exist beautifully. Theyve represented global garage from Germany to Miami and beyond. Theyve found that place everyone wants to get to, between the underground and the wide-open high streets.

CIFD Presents are a group of London based students, who have successfully been producing and promoting music events for the past two years who work in collaboration with the iconic Roundhouse Theatre which have hosted some of the most historic events and unique artists in the world.

Run by producers from City Universitys creative industries foundation degree, this was a journey of sound and vision- Evening Standard review, 2009s CIFD Presents No Passport Necessary.

This event will champion those mavericks that are reclaiming 360 degrees of independence for their music, approach and delivery. It is a chance for the industry, artists and music fans to come together under one roof to celebrate the innovators who are driving the industry forward, and to raise awareness about the new industry models that are already being put into practice today.

Reclaim independence of your music and come down to The Roundhouse Theatre in Camden this Friday 28th May 2010, doors open at ? and with tickets priced at only £10 in advance your Bank Holiday Friday is surely sorted!
