Yeah, overall I was really lucky it happened in the morning on a fairly nice day. No question.

Ha. I am pretty happy with my carbon footprint on the world. Sea water will eat that aluminum in a couple of years time. Better in my mind to drop it in 12,000 feet that in a land fill.

I had a length of 6 mm 7x19 wire I made a forestay out of once I reached Palmerston Atoll. That rig got me from there to Tonga where another cruising gave me a long length of dyneema. I spliced a new stay out of the dyneema and sailed on that to New Zealand. Getting a whole new standing rig down here. Big job, but gives a lot of confidence for the Indian Ocean and Cape of Good Hope.
