Benjamin Creighton Griffiths, 12 year old harpist loves Herbie Hancock - plays his CDs all the time. This piece could really do with some backing - some drums and bass - or a big band - but its still fun as an improvised harp solo!!

  • I think it's neat how you can play different styles of music (classical, blues, etc.) and seem to genuinely love playing all of it. When are you going to come out with your own CD?

  • @davewill247 Hi, I have a DVD of my 2009 concert in Italy and hope it will be for sale online soon. It is to raise money to pay for my trip to the World Harp Congress (Festival) in Canada and my return trip to the Rio Harp Festival (Brazil) both in 2011. I also have a charity CD of Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols - in aid of Llandaff Cathedral Organ Appeal. I hope to bring out another CD in 2011. I have also published the harp arrangement of Chameleon - due to go online next week ;-)

  • just wow, is that harp tuned to a blues scale?

  • @chansherly212 Hi, it's just tuned normally. In fact Benjamin has just had permission to publish this arrangement. We are just waiting for the paperwork to arrive before putting it up for sale.

  • Hi Ben. This is superb! Could you let me know where you get the manuscript please?

  • Ben is just using a lead sheet from the The Real Book, the rest is just improvised over the top of that.

  • Would love to hear you re-do this since you're older now. Great job, by the way, on one of my favorite funky jazz tunes!
