Ableton and Native Instruments rule, but Band in a Box is amazing at what it does and there really is no other software like it.

@tafxkz There is mixcraft, Magix music maker, reaper. They are very good and cheap! And then there is the big boys like ableton, Native Instruments, Protools, all the other was! :) Check em out!
