I just want to say to people who think that families are not missing their loved ones - nothing could be further from the truth. The sad reality is that up until very, VERY recently, the resources did not exist (NAMUS) and agencies did not share across state, even sometimes, county lines.

@unklewink As much as I hate to say it, I wonder if her parents killed her. Sadly, it DOES happen. With all the investigations that have been done into this case, it seems like a strong possibility since there have never been any leads. They could have done it and never bothered to report her missing. I am also wondering, have the police checked into the cases of other young black girls who were missing at the time? If it's possible, they may be able to do DNA testing.

Either it was too gruesome to talk about or they made so many mistakes that they are ashamed of the work they did on the case. I read somewhere that the only evidence that they had was lost.

is it any news broadcast on this case?
UPDATE: In late 2009, Jane Doe was planned to be exhumed and to be reburied in The Garden of the Innocents at Calvary Cemetery. However, it was found that the burial plot marked by her tombstone contained the remains from a different individual. At this date (June, 2010), the plans are on hold. -- KWH

Sadly underscoring what happened to her, is the fact that nobody seems to be missing her. If no one else, she at least had a biological mother and father. Who are they? Where are they? It boggles the mind!

The proverbial "needle in a haystack" - there is absolutely no place to start - detectives checked absentee records from schools - they teletyped every police station in the U.S. for years on Feb. 28, the anniversary.of the body discovery. This is one of 2 cases the lead detective never solved. Feb. 28 still casts a pall over the St. Louis police dept.

Jane Doe -- I am thinking about you on this day. It is the 26th anniversery of the discovery of your body. What would you have been? A teacher, doctor, lawyer, business woman, housewife, writer, actress, secretary, nurse , ???? - We'll never know what we have lost. But you are someone's child ... and I wish they would step forward to give us your name .. Love from KWH

Tomorrow, Feb. 28, will mark 26 years since the discovery of Jane Doe's headless body in St. Louis. We don't know who you are, but God does. Keep this victim in your thoughts on Feb. 28, 2009. - KWH

I share your pain and indignation on this case. It is truly "the case that haunts" - to be a victim that has no name and that very few care or know about.. Some day I am going to St. Louis to visit her burial site and will redo this video then. -- Thank you for your concern. - KWH
