On 10 March 2010, in Haifa, northern Israel, the family of Rachel Corrie, the altruistic young American and perhaps the first of the New Fourth Estate-citizen journalists- is bringing a civil suit against the Israeli defense ministry seeking accountability for Rachels death under the wheels of a US Made Caterpillar D9R Bulldozer driven by Israeli army troops as Rachel stood up in defense of the home of a pharmacists with five children in Gaza seven years ago and four days before George W. Bush ordered the bombing of Baghdad.

Four eye witnesses three Britons and an American who were on the scene when Rachel was run down and over twice are scheduled to give evidence. The Israeli government initially blocked the activists from entering Israel but Britain and the US exerted strong pressure, and they were allowed entry. All are members of the International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian-led movement committed to resisting the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land using nonviolent, direct-action methods and principles.

Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister at the time of Corries death, promised a thorough, credible and transparent investigation would be conducted.

An internal military inquiry cleared the two soldiers operating the bulldozer was even criticized by US officials.

Human Rights Watch noted it fell far short of the transparency, impartiality and thoroughness required by international law.

Rachel has been eulogized and demonized, celebrated and castigated. Her words speak for themselves and what follows are but a few excerpts from her emails written while in the homes of strangers who became friends and family in Rafah.

  • @smartalek65 <<< are you pulling facts out of your ass ...or is your head in the way ?

  • it's amazing that a simple young blond headed woman from the state of Washington will go down in history as one of america greats ...and someone with all power like a Bush who worked out of Washington (DC) will go down in history as the complete evil bastard he is ...

  • @omarlaylayoussef The difference between the Israelis and Palestinian terrorists is one of policy. It's the POLICY of groups like Hizbollah to target CIVILIANS, whereas Israeli policy targets combatants. Of more than 1500 dead Palestinians during the last infitada, over 3/4 were combatants. Of nearly 700 Israelis killed, more than 80% were CIVILIANS. If Palestinian terrorists were truly "defending Palestinians," then why aren't suicide bombers going after IDF forces and the bulldozers?

  • It seems that Isreal is making too many accidents...oops i just ran over a peace activist...ooops i just shot a young girl going to school...oooops i just bulldozed a house with a family in it...when will people open their eyes and realize that the real terrorists r the ones with the machine guns, bulldozers, bombs, automic weapons...the real terrorists are the Isrealies!!!

  • Sorry to have to inform you, eileen, that Rachel Corrie died as result of an accident. True, she is undeserving of any demonization whatsoever, but I cannot and will not subscribe to the implication that the bulldozer operators intentionally ran her over. The more I've researched the issues surrounding the occupied territories, the less appealing the Palestinian cause becomes, and the more appalling the political use her death becomes.

  • @rachelgolem. Actually, the moral of the story is never underestimate the evil of the Zionist and the gutlessness of the US politicians. A hard rain is gonna fall.

  • The moral of the story is, never try to stop a bulldozer with your FACE!!!!

  • @zionistboy the only reason i will not delete this slander is because it illuminates your heart and i am grieving the gut wrenching torture a true citizen of the world and a Jesus in the flesh-Vittorio (Vik) Arrigoni, who was brutally murdered by religious extremists in Gaza.

Good and Evil cut through every human heart and the world is pulled by extremism. All Free Will means is we get to choose which rules and what will we be extreme for.

I will always side with Rachel, Vik + All Oppressed

  • God Bless Rachel's family.

  • i got a feeling this woman give killer bjs.

Who give better bjs? conservative chicks or liberal terrorists supporting ones?
