BRAVO CHINA! In celebration of the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China, seven of the most outstanding Chinese musicians were invited by the Macau Youth Symphony to offer master classes to the aspiring musicians of the orchestra. The classes ended with a grand finale concert held on Sunday, 30 August, 2009 at the Macau Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium when teachers kindly agreed to perform along with the students. This video presents some of today's most internationally successful and accomplished young Chinese musicians gathered together for the first time: the Great Wall String Quartet, formed by Mr. Wei Lu (陆威), concertmaster of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Mr. Qi Zhou (周启), violinist at the Munich Philharmonic, Mr. Chi-Yuan Chen (陈麒元), viola at the San Diego Symphony Orchestra (USA) and Mr. Yao Zhao (赵耀), principal cello at the San Diego SO and three distinguished wind players, Mr. Lian Wang (王亮), principal oboe at the New York Philharmonic, Mr Ke Ma (馬科), Assistant-Principal Basson at the Detroit SO (USA) and Mr Long Luo (羅龍), Double Bass at the Alabama SO (USA). The orchestra was conducted by its music director, Mr Veiga Jardim (查伟革). Recorded live at the Macao Cultural Centre on 30.8.2009.
