Zakir Naik banned from UK. Mockery of Freedom of Expression.

Does Dr. Zakir Naik really "foment justify or glorify terrorist violence" or "seek to provoke others to terrorist acts?" You be the judge!

The ban on the entry of Dr. Zakir Naik in one country after other shows the helplessness of predominantly Christian West. Dr. Naik is a soft spoken, English speaking Muslim debator. He is very slim, fragile and a smiling man in his early forties. He often speaks from the point of view of Torah, Bible or the vedas and quotes references from these holy books, apart from holy Quran. He points out to Christians and Hindus, for example that covering head and wearing modest dresses is also contained in Bible and Vedas. Eating pork is not allowed in Torah and so on. People listen to him carefully as he proves with the help of quotations from Divine Books that Quranic teachings are very similar, if not exactly the same as laid down in Torah and Gospels.

Placing a ban is no solution at all. It depicts the fact vividly that the claims of so called liberal democracies of freedom of speech are hollow and seeing no way to stop spread of Islam among thinking people of these nations, their governments are taking this extreme step. It is an indirect admission that Islam is winning the battle for hearts and minds of people and no amount of propaganda and concerted hate campaigns against Islam and Muslims can restrict growth of Islam in the two continents.

Two countries — Britain and Canada — have banned Zakir Naik, boss of the Islamic Research Foundation and Peace TV, from entering their countries. Reason: his entry is "not conducive for public good."

There are several ironies to this ban. First, it seems that these two democracies are afraid of the impact Naik's speeches will have on their own Muslim populations. This implies that they are not confident of countering his views through direct engagement and rational argumentation. They have shot themselves in the foot and admitted defeat against Muslim scholars like Dr. Zakir Naik and Dr. Bilal Philips. If Britain and Canada believe in democracy, they should have allowed Naik to make his speeches, and challenged him on facts and/or sued him for preaching hate or making false statements. But they chickened out.

Second, democracies are tying themselves in knots when it comes to imposing bans. They won't ban Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses or the Danish cartoons or Ayaan Hirsi Ali's Infidel or Geert Wilders to enter freely and spread his violent extremism against Muslims, which have upset many Muslims. But they are ready to ban Naik's right to talk to Muslims in Britain and Canada. Even when banning things, one must be consistent.

Dr. Bilal Philips:
A number of other authentic Islamic lecturers have been recently banned from the UK and other Western countries.

This is a very silly policy on the part of the UK and others, as it is we who are enlightening Muslims to the true teachings of Islam to warn them away from extremism and terrorism in the name of Islam. When they ban us, they leave a vacuum which the extremists will fill using what has happened to us as proof of the UK's evil intent towards the Muslim community.

However, it is all good in the end for Allah will complete His guidance despite their hatred of it. As one of my students said, "Dr Zakir Naik and Peace TV will be the most googled items in the UK these days" -- good publicity.

It is clear that the goal is to counter or stop the spread of Islamic awareness in general in the West. Their hopes for assimilation of Muslims are being dashed with the current Islamic awakening. Muslims will remain distinct, and not absorbed like all the other cultures which came and were conquered by the western globalized culture. It is an extension of the Clash of Civilizations concept which I developed in my book by that name.

It is part of the strategy that they prevent clarity from moderate external speakers and justify it with the internal extremists whom they allow to function. The clampdown all over Europe using the niqaab as the rallying point is all part of the bigger plan. But Islam cannot be defeated, it will prevail, as it is THE TRUE RELIGION OF GOD.

The Islamic Research Foundation said in a statement: "It is deeply regrettable the British Government has bowed to pressure from sectarian and Islamophobic pressure groups by preventing the entry of Dr Zakir Naik, who has been visiting and delivering talks in the United Kingdom for the past 15 years.

Do you really believe that 1.7 billion people follow a religion that calls its adherents to do such a thing to their daughters? Why would record number of British women convert to a religion that calls for such a thing? On the contrary, Islam abolished the killing of female infants which was a common practice amongst the Arabs before Islaam.

I believe in freedom of speech 100%. I think anyone - even the likes of Nick Griffin - should be allowed to voice their opinions in a public forum. Why? Because it's only through rational and open debate that you can truly expose illogical thought processes and straight out lies. However, if you are granted freedom of speech and choose to voice your opinion on a public forum, then you need to be prepared for criticism, and to have the very foundation of your ideology brought into question.
