Hardly these are very fish friendly On the far side (Other Side away from the camera Top-Left) of the screw is a Fish Ladder chamber that anything that can swim can use it to swim lower level to higher level

these are the start of a slow death to all our rivers, our rivers will be devoid of fish once the spawning grounds are silted over because all the flow is going through the heads, these are being built by companies wanting to make money off the green pound, they will end up killing off every other bit of life in the rivers over the next few yrs

This makes no sense!!!! How does this help with irrigation?? This is why I hate science class...
That's not an Archimedes Screw being used for irrigation, that's one being used (the other way around!) for power generation ...
