I don't use a web cam so I thought I'd do a quick check to see if there was anything usable on Ustream for my test of the Shared Media on a prim surface feature in the new SL viewer.
Ashton Kutcher just happened to be on and wrapping up a live webcast so I hastily scaled and popped a cube on my head, enabled shared media, loaded the Ustream page, cropped and repositioned the web page on the surface as best as I could given the time constraints and hit record. Please forgive the terrible camera work... I was paying more attention to the prim than to my controller.
So you can see when I pull up the statistics window that the in-world frame rate is around 30-35fps (it was around 60fps without the media playing) but the shared media itself was a live webcast so the frame rate there is quite a bit lower. Anyway, this wasn't anything spectacular on my part but I thought it might be worth sharing. Too bad I missed most of the webcast though.

If the prim is transparent do u still see the vid?

@fuzonacid I've never tried it on a fully transparent texture but I suspect that you'd still see whatever page you're loading since the shared media seems to displace whatever texture you have on the prim face as opposed to adding to it if that makes sense. You still have control over the alpha though so you can lower the opacity quite a bit if that's an effect that you're after.

@jeversomREVOLUCAO I'm sorry but I'm not sure what you're asking.

how did you make this?

@allyyally: Using the new Viewer 2 in SL, select a face of a prim while editing an object and then enable shared media (which includes Flash). Now enter a URL and the web page will load.
Lower the horizontal and vertical texture repeats (below the default 1.0) to zoom in to what you want to focus on. Then use the offset parameters to shift things until what you want to focus on is centered. I hope this helps.
