You are suggesting that people who criticise govt policy are criticising troops, that does not add up.
Secondly Afghanastan is not the same as Iraq. There was a link between the terrorists who flew planes into buildings in 9/11, and Afghanastan, whereas there was no link between that event and Iraq.
In that way, the Afghan war was justified but the way that Iraq was attacked was not, in that we should have at least waited till a UN Mandate occured, as in the first gulf war.
Greenspan's statements on this issue are important. He said what everyone on capital hill knew, but didn't (and still won't) say. That the war in Iraq was principally about protecting our long-term strategic energy interests in the Gulf. The WMD threat was NOT the motivating factor. It was the most politically plausible rationale the administration could sell to the world. But people who understand US policy in the Middle East and understand economics (like Greenspan) know better.
"Third, NO, don't use PLANTS as an energy resource, we need to keep our plants on the atmosphere and balance the CO2 level."
When a plant dies it is broken down and metabolized by bacteria, fungi, worms and other organisms who release the CO2 back into the atmosphere. You may as well use it for fuel and or carbon sequestration(e.g. pyrolysis, put char back into the soil, use pyrolysis products for ammonia, synfuels or electric power or something).
First, taking Sadaam out was foolish, because this led to Shiaa takeover (which works for Bush because the Shiaa don't give a crap about Iraq). Second, if U.S. goes to war with Iran it will be WWIII - The Islamic Crusade. Third, NO, don't use PLANTS as an energy resource, we need to keep our plants on the atmosphere and balance the CO2 level. If we don't care about preserving our planet, let's preserve our children and their children.
Interestin man this Yergin fellow, he has about a gazillion explanations to the current high oil price, but we're definitively NOT running out of it. Hey Yergin, where's the $36/bbl-oil you promised?

It is not more CO2 that the atmosphere needs, it is OXYGEN.
