Johann Sebastian Bach, Cantata "Du Hirte Israel, höre", BWV 104
Cantata for the Second Sunday of Easter
5. Aria (bass): Beglückte Herde, Jesu Schafe
Bass (baritone): Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau
Münchener Bach-Orchester: Karl Richter
Recorded in Munich, Herkulessaal, May/June/October 1973
As much as I love the Richter performance, I still find the speed of Aria 5 too slow with Fischer-Dieskau singing. It is still gorgeous, but instead of a lullabye, I wish he would have sung it like the pastorale that it is supposed to be. His tone cannot be faulted. This is just my opinion, so don't come after me!!!! Thank you kindly.
