Debating the Draft

The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are taking their toll on the US military and that's of growing concern to top military officers. One of Washington's senior military advisers says reinstating the draft is one option, if the US is to maintain current deployment commitments. The White House maintains that the miltary will remain voluntary. But as Hanaan Sarhan reports, discussion of a change in policy is highly controversial.

The only time the draft has ever been accepted by the people was WWII, but you didn't NEED it because that generation understood that their country was under the threat of invasion by the Nazis and Imperial Japanese. They willingly signed up to protect their families back home, first and foremost, and to liberate oppressed Europe and Indo-China.

reinstating draft not now but army stretch thin and possible war in not too distant future then draft/conscript...

Nooo. No Draft. >_< Nooooo. =( Forcing people to do something they don't believe in. Force young people to kill and murder in a war which is questionable legally AND morally.
