"Natural Born Killaz" is a single from the reunited duo of Dr. Dre and Ice Cube. It is the first time the two had been on a single together since their rap group N.W.A had split up. It is the first solo single by Dr. Dre without Snoop Dogg. The single was released in 1994 in the US and 1995 in the UK. The production credits features Soopafly on the keyboards and Jewell on the vocals. The intro (approx. 30 seconds addition to the original length) portrays a couple heading home through an abandoned alley-way, where they get followed and verbally assaulted by some locals. Though the intro is different in the video and audio versions both of them involve murder and end with the sound of a gunshot. It also served as the entrance music for former ECW wrestler New Jack.
Although the song and video were released and highly popular around the same time as the release of the Oliver Stone film Natural Born Killers, the song did appear in the film.
In this video Dr. Dre and Mr. Ice Cube assassinate four people whose faces are blurred in the manner of reality TV or courtroom footage. These murders appear similar to the 1989 Menendez murders and the 1994 O.J. Simpson murder case, implying that Dre and Cube were the actual perpetrators of these two infamous Los Angeles area murder cases. It was directed by F. Gary Gray, in roles we can see John Amos (Die Hard 2: Die Harder) as the leading Detective, Andray Johnson as the police officer and Tupac Shakur as the SWAT team sniper.
It starts in the follow-up day with a chief officer arriving at the scene and asking the lead Detective to report what had happened. It then goes on as a flashback. After perpetrated the crimes Dre and Cube escape in a lowrider that runs off the asphalt crashing through the wooden wall of the harbour into the water after they jumped out of the vehicle. It marks the end of the intro. They lay low at a wasted warehouse surrounded by the police. Inside there's a two-side concrete throne with the rappers sitting in it and performing the verses. The final scenes of the video is about Dre committing suicide by diving out through the window and Cube staring out across the broken glass just before getting shot down by a nearby sniper played by 2Pac.
