Wonderful, epic movie. Thank you very much for posting. What may not be clear from this movie (understandably, since the focus is Kazan's Greek family) is the extent to which the Armenians were harmed by the Turks.
one word:EPIC ,so many gr8 lines, why its rated equal to godfather, once upon a time in america in america is beyond belief,in fact this has sort of influenced both those movies in some way atleast
So great that this is posted for everyone to see. Especially the whole playlist you have got here on YouTube !
Elia Kazan does not pull any punches, he says and shows the way it was under ottoman rule ! He has no fear of political pressure like others have had !
Thanks soooooooo much for postin America America playlist here for every one to see !
I deeply admire Elia Kazan's many great movies: A Streetcar named Desire, Viva Zapata, East of Eden, On the Waterfront, Splendor in the grass, The last Tycoon to name some his most reknown..
Thanks marciamarcie from my heart for this magnificent posting.
What ever happened with the fantastic Stathis Gialellis?
What a wonderfully rendered Epic!!! No doubt one of the most heartfelt of Elia Kazan's movies. He is no matter what, one of the genius of the last century and this a must see masterpiece, to realize how big is the scope of his Cinematography. As for the political fog surrounding his reputation, it doesn't get to tarnish his genius.
The Armenians and Greeks lost so much and sacrificed everything to leave the lands that they had inhabited for centuries.
