Here is a video took with hopes of capturing the sound created by the lake as it freezes solid for the long winter. If you can imagine the movie Titanic after the ship has hit an iceburg and is sinking. The same creaking, thunderous ratteling booms heard in the movie are exactly how this lake sounds as it shifts it's freezing direction and moves hundreds of feet a second and sends sound waves throught the mountain for miles. At 1 minute and 30 seconds in the video you can hear it best. Please turn up your speakers for the best sound as it is hard to catch it without high-tech sound equiptment. I only have a Cannon, and try to have a quiet room enviroment. My neighbor call it The Singing Lake. PS- this only happens for about week or two when winter temps are dropping in range from 15 degrees down below -10 and holding. The current temp was 11 and was time just after 1pm.
I wish so much that I lived somewhere like this. It must be amazing to grow up in such a place.
