**READ OUR STORY**
My 17HH five year old American Saddlebred gelding, "Let's Say it with Firecrackers" or 'Fred/Freddy'. Fred is just getting competitive after a lot of re-training with Charlene Curtis of New Beginning Stables in Brimfield, OH.
I got him in winter '07. He was a great boy, but then randomly started being dangerous. I was deathly afraid to ride him. I fell off of him almost every time I rode him; he took off on me EVERY time I got on him. He would take off before I got on him as well. He knew I was afraid and took advantage of me. I gave up on him and almost quit riding.
We changed barns to try to get some help in January '09. He started improving, but when we started training him for the shows, he started throwing extremely dangerous tantrums. He would back up to the wall and rear up to try to knock you out. He tried to buck you off, or even knock you out by whacking you in the head with his neck. Everybody told me to sell him--even my trainer suggested it. She didn't know if he would ever be nice enough to ride. He was scary. I almost sold him, but my trainer told me to give her a few months to work with him.
Summer of '09, I started working him and getting much more confident. He was doing a lot better. By the end of the show season, I was riding him. He was getting reserve in big championships, placing in top 5 EVERY class we entered, and I wasn't afraid to go to the barn and get on him when nobody was around. We had finally bonded.
Now he is giving lessons to young kids, going on trail rides, and even learning to jump. He has a constant headset with absolutely no tantrums and hasn't taken off since we changed barns. He has made so many improvements; thanks to Charlene.
I have never seen a saddlebred who has done more than one discipline of riding. Usually it is just saddleseat. Freddy does more than just that. He can also do western pleasure (although he doesn't), trail rides, huntseat, lower-level jumping, sidesaddle, and driving. My trainer also thinks with maturity he could make a nice lower level dressage horse.
He is all natural. No weighted shoes, no set tail. Isn't even really show trained. That's all his natural movement! He is shown in English Country Pleasure, Open English, and Adult Equitation. Will also be shown in ASB Huntseat Country Pleasure next year. Look out for us!
Included some old videos that some people may not have seen.

I did the first year I had him. It was our first horse show together and his first ever. Why?
