Part 3: July 10, 2009 to August 18, 2009. Designated a National Historic Landmark, Fair Park has the largest collection of 1930's Art Deco exposition architecture in the United States, built for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. Back then, trolleys traveled along Parry in front of the main entrance to the fair. Soon, DART Rail cars will do the same. In creating their vision for this station, Brad and Diana Goldberg - the artists responsible - have paid respect to the rich history of the area as well as the surrounding neighborhoods.
How the time lapse video is made:
The camera is a Pentax K110D digital SLR, housed inside a fiberglass box with a glass window. The housing also contains a high capacity internal battery pack that is recharged with a 5-watt solar panel that acts as a cover to the housing. Inside the housing with the camera is a battery converter and an intravolometer.
The intravolometer is the mechanism that is programmed to trip the shutter (snap a shot) every 6 minutes. The camera holds a 4 GB flash card that records the images over a 2-week period. The flash cards are then downloaded and rotated every 2 weeks. In a 2-week period the flash card records over 3,700 images. That results in approximately 1 minute and 52 seconds of video.
oh wow, I just stumbled upon this while looking for Fair stuff. Awesome video and fitting music to go with the fast motion. And now I know I can take the DART rail right up to the gate. Greatness.
