For those of you who don't seem to get it, this is an example of "scat" singing. In a demo, when a song's lyrics aren't complete but the melody is, or is close to being complete, a singer might scat sing syllables over the track to get a feel for how the melody might sound. Scat singing is also used frequently in jazz and big band settings. Mel Torme adnd Louis Armstrong do it well, and even Steven Tyler at the end of the song "Rag Doll" is scat singing.
