NEN9/ECN8 9-8 Television - Promo & Ident 1987

This is a promo using the tagline "We're Entertaining You" for the Saturday night movie and ident for 9-8 Television, which served Tamworth (Channel 9) and Taree (Channel 8) in northern New South Wales. First time I've ever seen a TV channel with two numbers, I guess that's why all the regional stations have names instead of numbers these days. Aired in 1987.

I remember it from growing up in Coona....we had an extra large VHF aerial to pick up the signal from Mount Dowe, as did a lot of houses in town. Great memories!

@Coonabaraman alas, this is the only 9-8 material I have, just on the end of a tape that was all Melbourne based content! I can't remember what the commercial, "not the ABC" station we got in Coolah was, I was far too young…

@museumofinanity Mt Cenn Cruaich for Midstate from Orange is only 84km away from Coolah. Mt Dowe for 9/8 from Tamworth is 176km away. Streetview shows most aerials in Coolah pointing to Mt Cenn Cruaich.

In Coolah you would have got Mid State Television 6-8-9. The transmitter is in the Warrumbungles, which isn't all that far away as the crow flies. It was a brilliant station before it became Prime. There's a few videos on YouTube to look back on!
