A masterpiece from Fates Warning :):)
Title :Life in Still Water Album:Parallels (1991) by Fates Warning
Lyrics:feeling the weight of unseen chains
this routine is growing thin
it's a narrow path that we walk
and the walls are closing in
caving in
is there room still for us to grow
within the bounds we've come to know

beneath the dust of our days
hides the key to our emotions
and it's been a while since we've been moved
without going through the motions
no emotions
is there time still for us to show
feelings we forgot long ago

living life in still water
blinded by what we've become
YOU get tired of screaming
when you're not reaching anyone

I think its time now for YOU to know
holding on is easier than letting go

living life in still water
blinded by what we've become
YOU get tired of screaming
when you're not reaching anyone

living life in still water
blinded by what we've become
YOU get tired of screaming
when you're not reaching anyone

  • its kind of ironic that james labrie's first contribution to a prog metal album is to a fates warning and not a dream theater album^^

  • James LaBrie of Dream Theater did the backing vocals for this song just in FYI

  • ΤΙ ΜΠΑΝΤΑ ΘΕΕ ΜΟΥ!!!

  • damn!!!!!!

  • @DarcHunter Yes, electric, not micd drums.

  • @flanksteak2 No actually, the beauty of Mark Zonder. You seriously think that's a drum machine? When he recorded most of this album, he used an electric set. Do your research. Seriously.

  • Drum machine.

  • @tankermottind If you watch their documentary, you'll learn that Life was the last song Ray laid vocals for. They had run out of time of staying in Canada to record this (where James was from) so their producer (forget his name...Rush prod, etc) reccomended LaBrie for the backing vocals. Since Fates new him, they said sure. That's actually how it happened...and it worked out for everyone since DT was about to release as well.

  • I've listened F.W. back in 1991 when I was in school, but couldn't appreciate their music back then. I found them a little boring, and preferred "cooler" bands like Motorhead and Helloween. I haven't listened to this song for 20 years, and now I can see that it is a masterpiece.

  • Man I love the guitars in the song. They harmonize so cool.

  • been listening to this band since I was 5 thanks to my father!! Absolutely love Fates Warning, one of the greatest most meaningful band ever!!

  • @WowzaGuy Hahaha )) yes indeed .. But also INDEED for Labrie .. Good comment ;)
