Mupen64plus emulator running on a Pandora prototype unit.

The first part of the video is Super Mario 64 at 600MHz for more real life performance without overclocking. The second part is at 800MHz. Mariokart 64 is at 600MHz again but could use the speed boost.

The Y axis of the nubs is backwards in the software which made controlling Mario so much fun. :)

I take no credit for having coded any of this. That goes to some amazing software folks who provide me with the pleasure of testing beta code. ;)

  • dude when u OC'd to 800mhz & played MK64 was that an artifact on the screen. just wondering no insults intended

  • You are probably referring to the cursor and the console refreshing from time to time. The game takes over the frame buffer but everything else is still running in the background. It won't be like that forever though.

  • I'm sure Alienware M17x is even better for N64 (and even PS2) than netbooks but you missed some important points:

    1. Pandora is a handheld

    2. Pandora is much smaller than any Netbook

    3. Pandora has longer battery life than usual netbooks

    4. this emulator is still under development

    5. You can't really compare x86 CPUs to ARM CPUs

  • this is only been a few months in progress. the psp has had a couple years to optimise emulation.

  • @3q89396 It's just early development of the emulator. As a system, it's almost as powerful as the Wii, which has it's N64 emulation quite up to speed on Mario 64. Therefore, it's only a matter of time before it's running full speed.

  • i was wondering, whether there is a graphing calc app for the Pandora, can anyone tell me please.

I am kind of undecided, whether getting one is worth it, and a calculator would definitely get me to buy it.

  • nice lag

  • youtube.com/watch?v=l_v4Uc98DkY full speed Mario 64 on Pandora

  • will the emulator support "hi-res textures"? I don't mean actually higher resolution textures but the ability to replace textures? I'm sure the emulator would work better with optimized textures.

  • try rebuild emulator via ms d.o.s.

  • how did you get this?

  • i don't think it will be running perfectly at the release but it surely is possible it's just matter of time

  • @BohemianBlasphemy:

If the software supports it, yes, Pandoras can be connected over a standard PC network like LAN (need a USB ethernet adapter) or Wi-Fi.

As far as I know, none of the emulators support MP over a network yet, but people have mentioned it and it's definitley a desired feature.

  • Zalda Ocarina of Time isn't demanding at all.I guess any machine that can emulate Mario64 can emulate Ocarina. The other Zelda (Majora's Mask),needs the Expansion Pack, just like Golden Eye or Donkey Kong 64. That's why I know it is demanding.

Starfox shouldn't be too hard either, I just mentioned it because I like it. I own a copy of StarFox64 too. I try to own a copy of every game that I like, but to play them emulated on a hand held device should be pretty nice.

    Can 2 Pandoras be connected?
