@halbie71 The pain that man went through to continue, I'm surprised he didn't retire earlier than he did, that's inspirational to me. If someone like Tommy John would've done the surgery during his career, who knows what would've happened... Think about it, if Koufax could have gone on with his career, all of the old records would've been busted, and the current boys would still be trying to beat them. I hope to see another Koufax in my lifetime... Then again, I don't.
@ceeloshady3 - I was a left handed pitcher in Little League at the time & Koufax was my idol. I attended the Koufax & Torre - Safe At Home event at the Nokia Theatre in L.A., Ca. February 27, 2010. Koufax was a CLASS act as usual! A GREAT evening!!!! Sandy was a tough competitor even though he suffered terrible pain during the height of his career!!! The man was a great athlete yet humble!
@halbie71 I am sooo jealous... While I was growing up, pitching as a lefty, I grew up admiring this man... You are one lucky person. Thank you for the story! PS- Koufax is still the "golden Jew!" lol
@ceeloshady3 -Iam serious, I did see that game with my Dad & my Uncle Carl. We sat at the top deck of Dodger Stadium that night. I was 12 years old at the time & a big Koufax fan. That was the only time I saw Koufax pitch live in person!
@halbie71 Are you serious? Did you honestly attend that game?! If you did, what an experience! Congratulations! I'd give my left arm to be able to go back in time and attend that game, unless I was Koufax, of course... That left arm is precious! Haha
He is the Greatest in my book, and I am a Giants fan....
sorry Juan.
