The conclusion to the crime rant. My thanks to everyone who wrote in to me with messages of encouragement. I just have one point to add, which I hope wont seem like I'm being ungrateful. Many of you wrote in saying that you have me and my family in your prayers, and I do appreciate that. But I genuinely believe that God helps those who help themselves. Simply praying for things to get better will do nothing, so if u really want to help....support this movement any way you can.

This country needs us to not be afraid and intimidated by our PM, and to not stand for mediocre governance.

  • Wow , I live in NY and i didn't know it was like that out there. Anytime I went there i felt kinda safe., not like here but i wasn't scared. I didn't know u guys had to pay for Obama to come there, thats crazy!!

  • in fairness to the govt, technically we're not paying for Obama to come. Just footing the bill to host a conference that Obama is attending. But the cost with all the security and sundry items needed are so high an outrageous, it hardly seems justified when the whole country is suffering from lack of adequate health, education, agricultural, infrastructural and long term crime prevention equipment and management. Govt's priorities are messed up.

  • supatrini........ i feel for you. it says something that i feel safer where i am in Coconut Drive, Morvant than where you are. the country is crumbling around us and i am glad that you as a man is speaking up.....unfortunately the majority of criminals are male. it speaks not only to the decline of the country but to the decline of manhood in our country......what is making men lash out like this and what can we do to stop it??

  • the answers to ur questions are very complex...not the least of factors,is the lack of fathers for my generation. We have men who dont know how to be men, raised by single moms. Couple that with a society that has developed without proper leadership or rule of law.....u get a recipe for chaos.

With regards to the safety where u live point. I dont think any1 feels safe...just different levels of anxiety. In reality, we are all at risk...but people need to lie to themselves to sleep at night.

  • You and your group need to take this up with the UN. Get everyone involved in this positive intellectual movement you are starting. What's admirable is that you can give your argument without a one-sided, closed minded view, or vulgar language. You say it with honesty and from the level of everyday citizens. Obama is not the savior of the world. America has their messes to clean up too. Trinidad people must follow the example of the Egyptians' rebellion against their corrupt government.

  • CEPEP is the worst thing ever: it squanders money. mechanizing can use less ppl and sue the rest of ppl for other jobs. and to cut grass u need no education. so the gov't promoting brainlessness. why did they invest the money in proper training for proper jobs so ppl could market themselves? thats where crime comes in. crime is a result of poor leadership. leadership = patrick. patrick disappear and someone better comes in place will only yield positive results

  • The government is in control of the economy. all the wasted money from the summit could have been used to train police, used for maintaining hospitals, investing in small businesses, subsiding food costs and so much more. why must 1 man have a multi million dollar house when some ppl dont even have food to eat tomorrow. why so much crime? - lots of ppl have been pushed into desperation. when someone works for $10 an hour in CEPEP u think thats enough to support a family?

  • you stupid fool...where i live in canada i could leave my doors open all night and dont have to bother about anyone robbing me. i have a dog but its a pet. i dont have it tied by my door waitin to bite someone who dare come in. u know why? because the government invested enough to run an efficient police and justice system. corrupted police goes behind bars not get promoted. crime could happen even if patrick disappear. but in patrick time crime escalated. look at your neighbourhood and country

  • How was that Patrick's fault? Did we spend that money 'for Obama to came here' or to hold the summit? Crime can happen even if Patrick dissappeared.

  • cont'd... I am keen to help you SuperTrini and I too have been thinking how I can help from way over here in London, because I went exploring Europe and ended up married to a wonderful British man. But that means that I won't be home for a while, at least. it also means I can't vote according to Trinidad laws. So tell me what yuh planning., where yuh need help and however I could put in a hand from here, I will do my best.

  • How can we expect policemen and women to work for us when they underpaid and over worked? How can we expect nurses, doctors, teachers, anyone to focus on their job, not take kick backs, etc. when they children have no school books or uniforms, etc.

  • I suppose that if we were allowed to arm ourselves we could fight back against this menace.

But I predict you'll be next to migrate.

  • What "system"?

Most people are NOT criminals. What is wrong with the rest of them?
