I was born in south Knoxville, close to the University of Tennessee, it's a dump now, started to fall in the late 80's, unrecognizable now. Down town, Gay Street was the central shopping location, now known as the old city, those shops are long gone. Every state had cities like this, when you went in to shop, it was easy to find and get what you needed, employees knew where it was and what they sold too
