Wally opens up the hive and finds queen cells - a sign of probably swarming. A good sign, meaning the hive is strong, and a bad sign, meaning they might leave!

  • No, they died over this winter. Very sad. I think it was too warm and they started foraging, only to find out that there was nothing to forage for.

  • This is a styrofoam beehive -- called a BeeMax beehive. You'll see them available on dadant dot com or search for beemax. Good stuff!

  • we have a simular hive in sweden, but they recommend painting it with waterbase outdoor coler to protect it from the sun (UV). Maby yours are more durable!
