we have a simular hive in sweden, but they recommend painting it with waterbase outdoor coler to protect it from the sun (UV). Maby yours are more durable!

No, they died over this winter. Very sad. I think it was too warm and they started foraging, only to find out that there was nothing to forage for.

This is a styrofoam beehive -- called a BeeMax beehive. You'll see them available on dadant dot com or search for beemax. Good stuff!
