This is from the Spoon River Anthology of 1915 that once sold as well as a popular novel. It's a collection of poems, being epitaphs and life stories narrated by the residents of the small town of Spoon River. The individuals mentioned in this poem are the subjects of those stories, in the most part.

  • Apparently this book inspired Gene Wolfe in his novel Peace, in which the characters... well... Let's just say I highly recommend the book. :)

  • I do like this book. One of my first favourite modern poetry books.
