Brian Viglione NINE INCH NAILS "Ghosts" Drum Kit

December 8th, 2007-
I showed up at Trent's house for the first day of recording and said he thought a "fun art project for the day" would be to have me build a drum kit out of found objects and whatever I could piece together that afternoon and then improvise on it that night. I spent the afternoon on the hunt and put it all together that evening.
When it was all ready, he gave me the headphones and a tempo to follow, and said, "just play what comes to you..."

What is mount on the wall? A mic? What kind?

@patdoy It's a PZM mic. Very possibly a PZM-30D or some model close to it.

That was the only mic they used to capture the drum sounds.

@AGiftToTearApart You know what flipped me out, was seeing a live video of

"Nine Inch Nails - 19 Ghosts III (Lights In The Sky Live)" from that tour and Josh Freese was playing the blue water jugs on stage for that song! Made me smile.

Josh is such a cool guy, too. I met him at a NIN show in Mansfield, MA a few years ago. Such a killer show...

@kasbahrt I wish there was. But they were all in the control room while I was tracking. While I was building the kit that afternoon, Trent would kind of poke his head around the corner and snap a photo or two, and I tried to stay chill while I was there and just go with the flow.

I'd love if Nine Inch Nails decided to play some more live shows. I'd love to have the chance to see something like this in action, and the guys themselves, too! I'd love to play this :) (I don't even play drums haha)

@brianviglione @brianviglione Haha, that is just too fucking cool! NIN is amazing live<3 Didn't meet them, but I still can't believe I even saw them! And this was four years ago, haha. I saw the With Teeth tour, so I didn't get to see the water jugs, but that would have been incredible to see live...
