  • The double extension ladders seen in this film , they made you carry by yourself on your shoulder sometimes up to a mile,

  • i used to do this job , on the GE at Romford OHL , apart from the now modern PPE , the weather and work has not changed since this film was made by B.R .

  • The first part of the video is from BTC film Wires over the Border about Weaver Junction to Glasgow Electrification between 1971 and 74. Reference to the Flying Scotsman confirms the second part is about East Coast Mainline Electrification - 1984 to 91.

  • Do you have the dates of these films? It looks like we have 3 different clips here from the 60's and 70s WCML to the 80s ECML. Notice how the techniques for erecting the cantilever arms on the single masts has changed.
