I remember coming here many times and having great fun… too bad it's gone, a grave mistake it was when it was demolished for ugly condos... on the other hand if it were around today it would not be the same, it would just be a hangout for prostitutes, drugs and video games... these were once the values of a decent generation that is gone ....never the less, thank you for posting, that was kind of you…

Great job!! Excellent editing and audio!

I am a native San Franciscan and I was there MANY times!! Thanks for sharing!!!

This cannot have been shot in 1960 because the Big Dipper was razed on October 11, 1955!

In the Fun House, the spinning record and the slide were my favorites, which you've documented both here. Wonderful memories. Women got "hit" with the air-holes blowing out of the floor, if they wore skirts in the Fun House. Never liked Laughing Sal.

@ginamylano The Lady from Shanghai is the movie at the end of this video ... or at least I think it was/is Great video, and even better memories. :D

Great great memories. I was there in 1960 and before and a couple of years after. Then it was gone. But not in your video. Forever to recall all the fun at Playland at the Beach. My Dad would take me to playland as a child in the 50's after a days work in the Financial District. We loved the games, pinballs and especially the bingo game, first to get 5 in a row. fun house and the Big Slide, boys was I brave the first time on it. Loved it all. Thank you.

Wow! Thank you so much for this! The man behind the counter at 2:12 is my grandfather who passed away before I was born! I never expected to see him on YouTube, so thank you very much for this unique opportunity!

Playland At The Beach was my favorite place to go on the weekends. I shot this
video when I was fifteen. Good times and fond memories. I also have a video
showing the Sky Tram ride at the Cliff House during the same time period.

As a kid Laughing Sal used to freak me out, and I remember that diving bell leaked a little. Great memories. Thanks!
-
Yup wow what a trip. I remember the slides and the turn table and the air hose that blew up the girls dresses...hehehe
-
I wonder if my 5 year-old self is in there somewhere?

Thanks for the video! I grew up in SF in the 60's and it's hard to find any video of playland. It was a great place with lots of memories. From going to Playland as a kid to racing on the Great Highway in the 70's, it was a great time!
The color footage is from 1960. The black and white photos at the beginning of the video are probably from the 1940's and include the Big Dipper.
