Keith is a veteran Reconnaissance Marine that was honorably retired from the Marine Corps after his convoy was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq. He suffered severe injuries to his left leg along with massive head trauma, but miraculously he survived. His friends, however, weren't so lucky and many of them were killed in action that day and even more passed on during Keith's entire tour in Iraq. Keith was in the hospital for many months after the incident, suffering from a multitude of ailments derived from the massive shrapnel wound on his leg. Doctors repeatedly told him that he'd never walk without a cane again...but they were wrong.

On May 16, 2009, Keith will be running in the Keys 100, a 100 mile ultramarathon in which runners will run from Key Largo to Key West, Florida, in honor of those killed in battle. He is an inspiration to everyone that he meets as well as anyone that has suffered from a debilitating injury. He loved his job as a Special Operator more than anything in world - almost as much as he loved the operators that he worked with that laid down their lives to protect our civil liberties. If he could get deployed again, he would do it without question.

  • I stumbled upon Keith's story last night in Runners Mag at my gym. A very inspiring individual/ warrior. Thank you for your service Marine. I too will be partaking in the Sacramento marathon to honor the Marines in Fallujah. Semper Fidalis Keith.

  • I was this Marine's rack mate in boot camp back in '04. I saw him do a 3 mile run with a 101 fever and still score a perfect score on the PFT. This kid was nuts.

If anyone has his contact information, feel free to message it to me.

  • Really dude no war fought over your freedom? It's amazing how quickly you ignorant book worms forget about pearl harbor and 9/11, you going to sit there and tell me that we had no room in wwII? Yeah let's just sit back as japan attacked our soldiers in Hawaii! You also forget how German submarines were sinking non-military American ships supplying our allies! If it wasn't for American aid in wwII we wouldn't have saved all those lives in concentration camps all over Europe! Your the same person
