PMC expels 23 Ahmedi students for preaching religion

FAISALABAD: The Punjab Medical College (PMC) Faisalabad on Thursday expelled 23 Ahmedi students accused of preaching religion in the university, following a recommendation by the college's disciplinary committee. Earlier, PMC students had staged a protest demanding the students' expulsion. The expelled students include Humaira Sadaf, Mansoora Samar, Mariam Mubarik, Sana Nisar, and Anas from the first year, Rubina Aslam, Kanwal Rehman, Hina Munnawar, Shamatul Amber, Kahsif and Haroon from the second year, Nosheen Zafar, Zubda Nasir, Hibatul Qadeer, Zakaullah, Dawood, Ihsan and Hassan from the third year, Zeeshan from the fourth year, and Rabia Shafique, Mansoora Ismail, Hibatul Hameed and Nabila Qudsia from the final year. shahid mubarik

23 AHMADIYYA STUDENTS EXPELLED FROM PUNJAB MEDICAL COLLEGE Arbitrary persecution of Ahmadiyya Jama'at in Pakistan continues All 23 Ahmadiyya Muslim students studying at the Punjab Medical College in Faisalabad, Pakistan have been expelled for no other reason than their membership of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at, a Community based upon teachings of peace, equality and tolerance. Following pressure from members of the Islami-Jamiat-e-Tulaba, a nationwide student organisation in Pakistan, the Principal of the Punjab Medical College issued a notice confirming that the 23 Ahmadiyya students had been expelled. The justification for the expulsions was totally baseless and spurious. It is yet another example of the cruelty that Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan have to contend with. The twenty-three students included eight males and fifteen females. Four of the students, all female, were in their final year of college and thus were only months away from qualification. The Press Spokesman of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said: "Recently the National Assembly of Pakistan made a submission to the UN Human Rights Council in which it stated its commitment to investing and supporting the education of its citizens, as well as safeguarding the rights of all minority groups. It is thus most unfortunate that less than one month later, this violation of basic human rights has been allowed. It is hoped that this wholly unjust decision is revoked immediately."

The Principal should be sacked because these kids got in the medical school on merit. No one should stop people of presenting heir thoughts on issues of life. People from Pakistan are allowed to speak on their religious beliefs in other countries where they are minorities, like USA and UK. Ahmedis are already declared non-muslims but they are Pakis like anyone else living in Pakistan.
