I love antique dolls. But since I'm a guy my friends and parents wont let me collect them. :(

Consider them as an investment, maybe that will help. I converted all my stock into dolls back before the stock market died, and had I not done that I would have lost everything. Antiques hold their value though :)

I thought about this and wonder if these types of toys (dolls, stuffed animals, etc.) could serve a more noble and glorious purpose of protection from evil spirits. They resemble a living being with a face and due to it's proportions it would be unfamiliar to an evil spirit which would make it think it has the power to protect the child. On top of that, they generate a feeling of security to a child that is comforting. Perhaps a confidant child is less vulnerable than one that is less confident.

I'd buy the confidence theory. Also, if they believed it protected them, belief is as good as gold.

Beautiful dolls! I bet there is story behind each doll. Ever isolated each doll and do a one on one EVP session? That would be awesome if you can get responses.

My mother has two victorian dolls made out of some strange materials. The next time I visit her, I will take photos and show you.

googley reminds me of a reoccurring dream I have of a girl from around the 1800's..some of the other dolls look similar..weird coincident.. i collect rocks for that reason too though :P

I also collect and feel the same way as I they are over comers. what they been through I feel safe knowing i and hey are also safe ad have something in common. love the old German kestners and the French. long gone from time.

The crazy part is I live in PR now,, but icame home for chrismas left my good friend in charge my storedge an when he found her there we couldn't belive it,, he thinks she was givin to me many yrs ago, but I can't rember,, she's so beautiful how would I not rember??
