Congressional leaders, including Rep. Joe Barton (R-Ennis/Arlington), heard on Friday from several car dealers who recently lost their franchises and then questioned the executives that made the decision to take them away. One dealer who made the trip to the Nations Capital was Ellis Countys Frank Tres Blankenbeckler. He runs Carlisle Chevrolet-Cadillac in Waxahachie, which started selling cars in almost 85 years ago, making it the oldest Chevy dealer in the state of Texas.

  • The point is not whether GM and Jeep made good cars or bad. The point is that we all have a lot to lose if the government can take ourproperty or abrogate contracts without compensation. In this case, this man's property is being given to someone else who, in the eyes of someone, somewhere, is more "deserving". I would not want that to happen to me.

  • You tree huggers make me sick. The nature of capitalism is being destroyed before our very eyes by the liberal majority. The taxes that those employees and Frank (the pathetic man whom I know personally) have paid on behalf of their enduring commitment to hard work & the free market enterprise have been thrust back at them and used to shut down their own facility. You would rather see every human burn before a tree gets sacrificed for a child's book. You should be ashamed to call urself american

  • Never thought I'd feel sorry for a car dealer, this is a bit like seeing a shark get bit.

  • OBVIOUSLY you have not ONE clue as to who this gentleman really is. If you did, you wouldn't be bashing him. He has never looked for a handout - has more class and money than you will see in your life time. His concern is for his employees and his community, you Moron!

  • Welcome to Chicago crooked politics at it's best.

    The crooks are in office.

  • Frank,

You are hurt and feel that your constitutional rights have been violated because a corporation decided that a city with a population of 21000 could not sustain a chevy/jeep/cadillac car dealership.

So like a true red, white and blue patriot you go to the government and ask them to help your failing business. Because you are entitled to government assistance. Classy, Frank, classy.

  • I've noticed that most of the dealerships that were closed were owned by conservative people of European heritage. I call foul. Someone, somewhere, is politicizing who gets to survive and who goes. How else do you explain the most sucessful dealerships getting the axe while left wing "minority" owned dealerships were left alone? It's probably being directed by some leftist activist who supports Obama and "affirmative action". I know that's a bold non-PC statement but I feel it's justified.
