This episode of the NW Cable News program "NorthWest EXTRA" with Cam Johnson (http://www.nwcn.com/on-tv/bios/87163347.html) aired live at 7pm on Monday, September 10, 2001 to mark the 50th anniversary of KING TV's first newscast. Guest is the late Charles Herring, who was Seattle station KING's original anchor back in 1951. KING, incredibly, presented the first local TV newscast west of Minneapolis and north of Los Angeles.

Mr. Herring was feted with a special event at Seattle's Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) that Monday, and was scheduled to appear again on NW Cable News the next morning (as a slate near the end of this video shows), but his appearance was preempted by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

This video was recorded off cable by Charles Herring. In addition to the special event at MOHAI, Mr. Herring presided over tours of the KING transmitter for the museum's history walking tour series.
