"Our guest on the Have Your Say programme on Sunday 9 December will be Professor Richard Dawkins. He is an outspoken atheist who says science explains the world better than religion.

Pope Benedict has attacked atheism in his latest encyclical. He says it is responsible for some of the "greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice" in history. He adds "man needs God, otherwise he remains without hope".

Professor Dawkins says "many of us saw religion as harmless nonsense ... September 11th 2001 changed all that. Revealed faith is not harmless nonsense, it can be lethally dangerous nonsense".

Did God invent man or did man invent God? Does religion stoke conflict or help to avoid it? Is it possible to have hope without belief? Does science provide more answers than religion? Is atheism a religion?

Theism=BELIEF in a God : Atheism - Without a belief in a God.

That means that pantheists, who believe that God is the universe, believe in a god.

Misotheists HATE god. How can you hate something that you don't believe exists.

Agnosticsm speaks to KNOWELDGE, not belief, and does not address belief at all.

@MrPopeye232323 A catholic? I guess that explains why in his book Mein Camfe, he specifically quoted Charles Darwin as an inspirasion for his vision of eugenics. Eugenics, which a practice that is NOT found in any earlier books that the writings of Darwin, was the practice Hitler used to exterminate all the people he thought were defective: True Christians, Jews, Homosexuals, Retarded people, the disabled elderly. You'll have to admit it: Darwin is to atheism that Mohammed is to Islam.

Fundamentally God is for the uneducated for those who have learned nothing from the reality of scientific discovery. The perpetual arguments over the word THEORY bring this out. Those who are educated enough know that this word is important and understand its proper meaning. It is a close relative of the word THEOREM as in Pythagoras' Theorem and the number of theorems one has to learn for Geometry and Trigonometry . Anyone who says "It is only a theory" shows their opponent their weakness .
