With respect for all who suffered, and for all who continue to suffer, because of the horrendous actions taken on September 11, 2001, like many, I remember that morning. I was getting ready for work. The phone rang. It was very early and I was immediately worried to see my dad's number on the caller ID. My dad frantically told me to turn on the television. I woke up my wife and together we watched the images and video being televised. We didn't speak. We witnessed the horror and sat in disbelief ... praying. Unfortunately, it was all really happening.

Ten years have passed and I still remember the horrible images ...

Similar atrocities continue to scar our world with every moment that passes ... all over our world. People are currently trying to survive terrifying conditions. Nothing is over. I know that it's not much, but I continually pray for all life; that everyone will make better choices that does not devastate. It always seems to be worse ... somewhere else.

But, hope remains. Life finds a way to survive. People survive. Somehow, "survive" needs to turn the corner and flourish. Mankind is its own worst enemy. Mankind cannot hope just to survive. The standard needs to be set higher. The only way that will happen is if each and every person lives to set the standard higher. Otherwise, it's more of the same and how long will our world survive following this way?

I'm certainly scared. But, in my own personal way, I'm trying to make better choices with every breath I take. I have the power to change myself and I will remain steadfast in my efforts. I AM witnessing the valiant efforts of many people who are warriors for a better tomorrow. All is not lost. The fight is on. That is the Hope! Fight!

As for today ... Today is a solemn occasion, marked by grave sedateness and earnest sobriety, our world recognizes the grievous actions taken on September 11, 2001. I pray ...

"Morning Has Broken" is a popular and well-known Christian hymn first published in 1931. It has words by English author Eleanor Farjeon and is set to a traditional Gaelic tune known as "Bunessan" (it shares this tune with the 19th century Christmas Carol "Child in the Manger"). It is often sung in children's services. English pop musician and folk singer Cat Stevens included a version on his 1971 album Teaser and the Firecat. The song became identified with Stevens when it reached number six on the US pop chart and number one on the US easy listening chart in 1972. Writing credit for "Morning Has Broken" has occasionally been erroneously attributed to Cat Stevens, who popularized the song abroad. The familiar piano arrangement on Stevens' recording was performed by Rick Wakeman, a classically trained keyboardist best known for his tenures in the English progressive rock band Yes.
