A re-creation of the Ida May, a 1920's powered oyster dredge. The original was too far gone for restoration, so a group of professionals and volunteers at the Oyster Bay Waterfront Center are building a new vessel to modern safety specifications. The keel laying ceremony is the public recognition of the start of construction. She'll be used for educational harbor tours, joining the Christeen, a sailing oyster boat.
