The violist needs to positioned so as not to be directly in front of the pianist--it looks too like soloist/ accompanist, whereas it is actually completely equal, with each accompanying the other on a musical journey, in the same direction.

At last - a violist who thinks that playing too close to the bridge is A Bad Thing, and cultivates the finesse that great violinists have in tilting the bow at just the right angle away from the bridge. Stirring playing limited only by the inherent qualities of the instrument - and the loudness of the piano :-(

I AWARD THIS 2 1/2 CLARAS...The performance has a lovely ebb and flow.They communicate very well to us in Spirit-Emotional terms and while they don't seem like they've played together regularly,they seem to have sympatico with one another.This would get more Claras from me,but his tone while being fine,is never inspiring and his intonation on the edge of being too shaky frequently,and her's is frequently brutal in an out of place way.
