The title cut from Hubbard's first LP as a leader for Blue Note Records circa 1960 in the company of Messrs McCoy Tyner, Tina Brooks, Clifford Jarvis and Sam Jones.
Tina Brooks output wasn't much in terms of him becoming well known outside of jazz circles. Didn't help much that he seemed to have pretty severe mental problems to boot. I agree he was great, and the way he left up outta here was pretty tragic too. RIP Freddie--you were boss!!
@Arborwaychet thats all i heard when the head started. LEE MORGAN. it sounds just like Totem Pole from Sidewinder. Freddie's soloing is much different though, i agree.
For me ... there is a strong resemblance to Lee Morgan during the head ... but when Freddie starts to improv' ... he's got his own sound and style already formed. So forward and fluent ... and technique!
